Achievements

I am currently freelancing and helping REALSENSE Learning looking at a more strategic approach to business development.

I have just finished a contract with the Institution of Operational Safety & Health (IOSH) helping them with a 5 month project linked to Ireland, engaging and supporting the volunteer led networks across the branch, district and section committees to efficiently direct activities to members and into the wider community in line with IOSH Strategy to support the member value proposition. I created a Board Report and Presentation on my recommendations for Ireland as a whole. This was well received and followed up by the new Regional Manager when he was recruited.

My previous role was at the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) helping improve customer service with a small team proactively supporting membership across the UK.

 

This included:

  • helping corporates gain accredited training programs as well as becoming a corporate partner;

  • supporting organisations training needs and helping IChemE with sponsorship of Events and Conferences

    • increased IChemE Accredited training schemes and Corporate Partners by 700%

    • increased training income and bringing sponsorship income targets in-house

    • created Industry Panel made up of over 60 senior chemical engineers

    • improved student membership figures and increased “Get Chartered Applications measurably

    • helping support 26,000 members in the UK & Ireland

    • working with 36 chemical engineering departments

Helped strategically refocus another institute the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply to build on their customer penetration through improved proactive account management. Last sale in excess of £1.5m

  • Achieved £3m training sales at CIPs, not withstanding the financial crisis

 

Managed and led a regional management team and head office function at the Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) defining and delivering a new employer engagement strategy refocussing on a more customer centred approach

Built a forward facing, customer orientated Independent Financial Advisory Service Department for Sesame, the largest IFA Network

  • Re-engineered and delivered a new robust, streamlined applications and exits process

Previous freelance activity included:

  • Negotiating and developed a strategic programme for delivery of quality, outsourced training support via personal trainer network (circa 500+ days) for Top UK Bank and a Large Insurance Company based around RDR Level 4 Training and Sales Excellence

  • Board of Director Development/Support - Approved Persons’ Responsibilities Training for Major Network

  • RDR workbook/question bank creation + Update for IFA major support services provider

  • Appropriate Risk Profiling support material production for Major Bank

  • RDR Level 4 Training for a variety of IFA firms

  • Personal technical training material and question bank production (including RDR)

  • BDM support work and creation; update and sales of FS materials and questions

  • FSSC accreditation preparation with FSA

Established business development for a new and innovative training and compliance consultancy at Corporate Training Partnerships

  • Launched offering to 40 major FS businesses, driving in excess of £3m income streams

Responsible for 5 customer facing teams within the Institute of Financial Services (ex Chartered Institute of Bankers – now London Institute of Banking & Finance) including:

  • Business development; R&R Faculty; Training; Local Centres and Membership

  • Created the R&R Faculty and it’s Board with full accountability for business of £3.5m in the first year

  • Created the strategic plan resulting in over £5m for a new mortgage qualification (CeMAP)

  • Initiated, planned and developed the creation of a new specialist business development team

Co-ran FS Induction Training at the Halifax

  • Achieved regulatory deadlines (including exam passes) for an 800 head Financial Services advisory team

  • Led FS Integration training for the Halifax and Leeds Permanent Building Societies

Ran field training for Refuge Financial Services - a new direct sales insurance company. Became part of a brand new marketing team at Refufe Assurance covering Life and Pension Products, Market Research, Product Development and Literature.

Attained a position at Confederation Life, a large direct sales insurance company in the Top 20% both as an adviser and manager.
